DIY: Tartan Elbow Patch Sweater :: Holiday Trends

Hi Everyone!

This DIY project is so easy and is featuring the very hot trend Tartan; or as we all know it plaid.  Granted, tartan is a classic print around the holiday season, but it has taken on a huge resurgence this year because it goes well with so many other popular trends  such as mixing prints or military chic and others.

Here's an easy way to update a basic sweater with a few simple steps, that, if paired with dark denim you can achieve a polished and an on-trend look. An alternate look could be to swap the denim for a mini skirt, add sheer nylons and stilettos and you'll have an easy holiday party ensemble.

Jeans: Guess // Necklace: Club Monaco (old) // Earrings: Bebe // Lipstick: MAC's 'Brave Red'

SUPPLIES:
1/4 yard of tartan fabric
Sweater
Needle and thread
Scissors
Pins
Paper
Draw and cut out a template of an oval for the patch. Cut out fabric and pin to the back of sleeves where your elbows bend.

Sew fabric on to sleeves. I dabbed some fabric glue at the edge of the fabric to prevent fraying, but that is optional. Volia! you're done!
